Meta Launches AI-Powered Seller App As Facebook Marketplace Reaches 430M Monthly Listings

Meta Platforms unveiled Friday a dedicated app for Facebook Marketplace sellers, offering artificial intelligence (AI)-powered listing tools, inventory management and sales analytics to strengthen its e-commerce business. Facebook Seller appThe new Seller app debuts as Facebook Marketplace marks its 10th anniversary, with the platform now hosting 430 million items and 44 million vehicles listed each month globally, according to Meta. In the US, one in three young adults on Facebook uses Marketplace daily, highlighting its growing role in social commerce.Initially available on Apple’s App Store for US users aged 18 and older, Seller synchronizes with existing Marketplace accounts, automatically importing listings, buyer messages and selling history. Meta said Android and broader web testing are underway.Unlike Marketplace’s built-in selling tools, Seller is designed specifically for high-volume merchants, providing a centralized dashboard for managing inventory, communicating with buyers and tracking business performance. The app uses Meta AI to generate listing titles, descriptions, categories and suggested prices from uploaded photos, allowing sellers to publish listings more quickly. A bulk-upload feature also enables users to create multiple listings simultaneously.Seller also includes a unified inbox that organizes buyer conversations by product, performance dashboards showing views, clicks and completed sales, and inventory management tools for editing, relisting and repricing items.Meta said listings created through Seller automatically appear on Facebook Marketplace, allowing sellers to continue reaching the platform's existing customer base without changing where buyers shop.Expanding commerce strategyThe launch forms part of Meta’s broader effort to develop standalone applications for users who rely on Facebook for specific activities.Earlier this year, the company began testing Forum, a dedicated app for Facebook Groups, while reviving Creator Studio as a standalone platform for content creators.Meta said AI will increasingly underpin these specialized experiences, from generating Marketplace listings and summarizing Group discussions to helping creators analyze audience performance.New verification featureAlongside Seller, Meta announced the rollout of Facebook Verified, a free verification badge that confirms users have completed selfie verification and met the platform’s trust and safety standards. The company said the feature is intended to strengthen confidence in Marketplace transactions, Facebook Dating and community Groups as AI-generated content becomes more widespread.Meta is also testing a redesigned, full-screen video experience in selected international markets later this year, reflecting growing consumer demand for video-first social media experiences while continuing to invest in commerce and creator tools across Facebook.
